Questions about Internships

Which fields of study are in particular demand at Manz?
We primarily offer internships for the following fields of study: electrical engineering, automation engineering, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, laser technology, process engineering, computer engineering, physics, chemistry, and business administration/industrial engineering. Internships are usually offered in Software Development, Process Development, and Design, as well as Final Inspection and Commissioning.
Are internships reserved for those completing mandatory internships or are voluntary internships also available?
We offer both voluntary and mandatory internships.
Can students complete internships at Manz which are required prior to enrolling in a degree program?
These internships are also available and can be completed between July and October. The length of the internship depends on the requirements of the respective college/university.
Can internships be completed at other Manz locations in Germany or abroad?
We offer opportunities for students at all of our locations. Your application will also be forwarded to the other Manz locations.
How long does an internship last?
At least four months, but six months is the preferred length of time.
Is it a paid internship?
Yes, our interns are paid.
How many hours do interns work each week?
Interns work 40 hours each week.
Do interns get paid vacation?
Depending on the length of the internship, interns receive paid vacation.
Will Manz help me look for a place to live?
We can post a “room/apartment wanted” classified on the bulletin board in our employee restaurant, if you so desire. We are also happy to forward your wanted ad to the respective colleges/universities in the area with a request that they post it as well.

Questions about Working Part-Time While Pursuing a Degree

Does Manz offer part-time jobs for students in college?
Yes, we offer part-time jobs for students pursuing a degree. The key is that this job is related to your field of study. We would prefer if you completed an internship before taking on a part-time position.
Can I work part-time at other Manz locations in Germany or abroad while pursuing a degree?
We offer opportunities for students at all of our locations. Your application will also be forwarded to the other Manz locations.
How long does the part-time job last, and how many hours a week do students work?
Initially students are hired for a period of six months, although this period of time can be extended. During the semester you can work up to 20 hours per week. During vacations you can work up to 40 hours per week.
How much are students working part-time paid?
Compensation is based on a number of different factors: the part-time job, previous education (for example, if the student has already completed a vocational training program or earned a bachelor’s degree, etc.), as well as whether the student has already worked for our company and is familiar with our processes and procedures.
Do students working part-time get paid vacation?
No, students working part-time do not receive vacation time.
Will Manz help me look for a place to live?

Questions about Completing a Final Project at Manz

Which fields of study are in particular demand??

How long are students preparing final projects employed for?
Between four and six months.
Is this form of employment paid?
Yes, students who complete their final project at our company are paid.
Are students required to be physically present when preparing a final project at Manz?
Students are not required to be present. The Manz employee overseeing the project will determine when the student has to be present or will coordinate this with the student.
How many hours do students preparing a final project work each week?
You don’t have a fixed weekly schedule when completing a final project at Manz.
Do students working on a final project get paid vacation?
No, students working on a final project at Manz do not receive paid vacation.

Can I send an unsolicited application for an internship, part-time job while studying, or to complete a final project at Manz?
We accept unsolicited applications for all positions we offer.
How far in advance should I submit my application?
Three to four months in advance.
How does Manz prefer to receive applications?
You can apply using our online application form, by sending an e-mail to career@manz.com, or by mailing us your application. We treat all applications equally regardless of which way you decide to submit it to us. We will send you confirmation that we have received your application within two days of receiving it.
What does a promising application for one of the aforementioned positions look like?
Please ensure that your application is complete. This comprises a cover letter which includes the period of time during which you would like to work at Manz, a complete chronological résumé, and any supporting documents (including a copy of your degree, current transcript, internship certificates, report cards, references from previous part-time jobs, etc.).
