Questions about Vocational Training

What are the prerequisites for entering a vocational training program at Manz?
The requirements vary from program to program and are explained briefly in the individual listings. In general, you should have received good grades in high school, be able to work in an independent and disciplined manner, be reliable, dedicated, and work well as part of a team.
How long does a vocational training program last?
Vocational training programs last between 2.5 and 3.5 years, depending on the career selected. The exact length is noted in the respective listing. The length of a vocational training program can be reduced by six months; this is considered on a case-by-case basis.
Which areas of the company/departments will I become acquainted with?
During a vocational training program, you will be introduced to a variety of different areas of the company.
Industrial trainees spend time in the Training Workshop as well as the Pre-Assembly and Final Assembly, Final Inspection and Commissioning, and Service departments. Business trainees spend time in the Purchasing, Accounting, Corporate Communications, Human Resources, and Order Processing departments.
What are vocational trainees paid during the program?
Our trainees receive a competitive monthly trainees’ salary as well as capital-forming benefits and a monthly meal allowance.
What are my chances of being hired after I complete a vocational training program?
Manz offers vocational training to cover its own needs. As a result, our goal is to offer an open-ended employment contract to trainees who have impressed us with their performance. However, we cannot offer any guarantees in this regard.

FAQ on Combined Vocational Training and Degree Programs/ Reutlingen Model

What are the prerequisites for entering a combined vocational training and degree program at Manz?
The requirements vary from degree program to degree program and are explained briefly in the individual listings. In general, you should have received good grades in high school, be able to work in an independent and disciplined manner, be reliable, dedicated, and work well as part of a team.
What universities and colleges is Manz partners with?
DHBW Stuttgart and DHBW Stuttgart, Horb campus. You can find out which degree program is offered at which location in the respective listing.
How long does a combined vocational training and degree program/degree program based on the Reutlingen model last?
A DHBW program lasts three years, and a degree program based on the Reutlingen model lasts five years (a combination of two years of vocational training as an industrial mechanic and a three-year degree program in mechanical engineering). The exact length is noted in the respective listing.
Which areas of the company/departments will I become acquainted with?
During the practical portions of the program, you will spend time in the different departments based on your field of study. As part of a degree program in a technical field, you will spend time in the Training Workshop, as well as Production and Design, among other departments. Students studying computer science will spend time in the IT, Organization and Processes, as well as Software Development departments.
Is it possible to spend time abroad when completing a program at Manz?
You have the ability to spend the fourth semester of your degree program abroad. You can select the country yourself, and Manz will bear a portion of the costs.
How much is the pay?
Pay is based on the selected model (combined vocational training and degree program, or the Reutlingen model). In addition, you also receive capital-forming benefits. The corresponding contact person can provide more information about the respective current pay levels.

Questions about the Application Process

What application deadlines do I need to keep in mind?
You should apply for the desired program about 12 months before it is scheduled to begin.
How can I apply for a vocational training program/degree program?
You can apply using our online application form, by sending an e-mail to career@manz.com, or by mailing us your application. We treat all applications equally regardless of which way you decide to submit it to us. We will send you confirmation that we have received your application within two days of receiving it.
Can I send an unsolicited application if I do not find the program I am interested in on your job listings page?
We publish all the vocational training and degree programs we offer on our Job Listings page. As a result, please apply only for a program which is listed on this page. If you do not find the program you are interested in, you can assume that all the spaces in that program have already been filled.
What does a promising application look like?
Our online application form only consists of a single page. Please enter your personal information into the form and upload the following documents as a separate file: cover letter, résumé, and supporting documents. If you have any multi-page documents, such as certificates or references from a school, previous job, or internship, please combine all of the document pages into one file. The size of all the attached files cannot exceed 5 MB.
When sending an application by e-mail or mail, please ensure that your application is complete and contains all the necessary documents, including a cover letter, a complete chronological résumé, references from your last three positions or internships, as well as any other certificates.
How does Manz conduct the selection process?
After making a preliminary selection based on the documents received, we will invite suitable applicants to an aptitude test and personal interview with the respective trainer or training manager.
How can I prepare for my job interview?
Please carefully consider what you your skills are, what you expect from the position, what your professional goals are, and why you are a good match for the position you are pursuing and for Manz as a company. You are also welcome to write down questions beforehand that you want to ask during the interview.
