Manz AG: Scheduled processing of major orders for battery production equipment
04/28/2020 11:01:00 CEST, Reutlingen Project progress of the orders received in 2019 from a long-term customer in the consumer electronics sector for equipment for the production of wound lithium-ion battery cells in the first quarter of 2020 according to plan | Delivery of the machines despite restrictions by Covid-19 thanks to efficient processes and remote support | Development of a prototype to further increase efficiency together with the customer
Manz AG, a global high-tech engineering company with an extensive technology portfolio, delivered equipment to one of the world's leading battery manufacturers as scheduled in the first quarter of 2020 as part of orders placed in the second half of 2019 for production machines for manufacturing wound lithium-ion battery cells. As a result, the agreed delivery times and quality requirements are being met despite the Europe-wide restrictions imposed by the measures to combat Covid-19. In line with the client's wishes, several machines were delivered within one week, which means that currently more than 50% of the machines ordered to date have already been accepted by the customer and delivered thanks to efficient processes between Manz's locations in Germany, Italy, and Slovakia. Thanks to remote support from Manz's service and commissioning team, installation and commissioning at the customer's site was carried out efficiently and as planned. The company plans to further expand its successful cooperation with this long-term customer in the future.
Martin Drasch, Manz AG's CEO commented, "We are proud that, thanks to our extremely well networked locations and the intra-European value chain, we are able to keep to our schedules and quality promises even in these challenging times. This makes us a reliable and efficient partner, in particular for European customers in the field of battery production. In our Energy Storage segment, we offer over 30 years of experience in the development and manufacture of highly efficient production systems for lithium-ion batteries. This is appreciated and also relied upon by our long-standing customer, with whom we intend to further intensify our good cooperation in the future".
To this end, work on further innovations is not standing still, despite the Europe-wide travel and contact restrictions. Manz AG's engineers at its European locations are already working together with the client on further improvements to the system concept. The aim is to significantly increase the production capacity of the machines, to minimize the required floor space of the machines in the clean room and thus to significantly increase the overall productivity of cell production. In order to successfully complete the on-schedule development of this first innovative prototype within the next few weeks, a networked team of engineers from Germany, Italy and Slovakia is working together effectively from their home offices, among others.Back to overview
