- Manz wins first major order of EUR 9 million from Chinese OLED industry
- OLED display market expected to report rapid growth
- Significant potential for follow-up orders
Manz AG, one of the world's leading high-tech engineering companies with its extensive technology portfolio for the three strategic business units "Display", "Solar" and "Battery", has received an order with a total volume of more than EUR 9 million from a leading Chinese manufacturer of OLED displays. This large order for wet-chemical processing equipment for the production of OLED displays is also one of the first ones made by China's upcoming OLED industry to date. The expansion and outsourcing of production capacities from South Korea to China underscores the growing significance of OLED technology and boosts this sector's future growth. As the world market leader for wet-chemical processing systems – one of the most important process steps in the production of displays and touch panels – Manz enjoys an outstanding position to participate to an above-average extent in the OLED display market's future growth.
Manz has managed within a short period of time to successfully transfer its process know-how from its Display segment to the new OLED application area. The machines' top quality as well as Manz AG's extraordinarily fast project realisation proved persuasive to this newly acquired customer from China. The engineering company based in Reutlingen, Germany, which has production sites and around 900 staff in Asia, won out against numerous Asian competitors. Following some small orders, the order that has now been received from this segment offers the company considerable revenue potential. Market-driver is in particular the rapidly growing demand on the end-customer market for mobile devices with OLED displays, such as smart phones and tablet computers. The major interest in this technology is attributable to OLED displays' clear advantages compared with conventional TFT-LCD displays in terms of weight, energy consumption, contrast and reaction times. The challenge of the manufacturers still lies in further reducing manufacturing costs. Manz can make a significant contribution in this context with its innovative production systems and its many years of experience from the area of producing TFT-LCD displays.
Dieter Manz, CEO and founder of Manz AG, commented as follows: "After a period during which Korean manufacturers have been the market leaders in this area, we now anticipate significant investments to come from China and Taiwan in the future. Given our market leadership in wet-chemical processing equipment for touch panel displays, we are the globally leading company for one of the most important process steps in the production of touch-sensitive displays. We aim to, and will, consistently exploit the opportunities arising from new investments by the sector and from our excellent market positioning."
