Manz AG, a worldwide high-tech equipment manufacturer with an extensive technology portfolio covering the three strategic business segments of "Electronics", "Solar" and "Energy Storage," has announced the appointment by the District Court of Stuttgart at the request of the Company of Dr. Zhiming Xu (44), Chief Technology Officer of Shanghai Electric Automation Group of Shanghai Electric Group Company Ltd., as member of the Supervisory Board of Manz AG. With effect from October 17, 2017, Dr. Zhiming Xu will take over the position held by Guoxing Yang, who was a Member of the Supervisory Board of Manz AG as representative of the anchor investor and strategic partner Shanghai Electric since 2016.
After successfully completing his mechanical engineering studies and receiving his doctoral degree in mechatronics from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Dr. Zhiming Xu began his career in 2003 at Shanghai Electric Group Co. Ltd. Since 2011, he has been the Chief Technology Officer of Shanghai Electric Automation Group and, since 2016, Managing Director of Shanghai Electric Germany Holding GmbH based in Frankfurt (Main). In addition, Dr. Zhiming Xu has been a member of the Board of Supervisors of NICE PV Research Ltd. and of the Board of Directors of Suzhou Manz New Energy Equipment Co. Ltd. since 2017. Manz AG had jointly founded both companies as part of its strategic cooperation with Shanghai Electric and Shenhua Group.
The objective of NICE PV Research Ltd. is to speed up the further development of CIGS solar technology, which will leverage its potential for further increases in photovoltaic efficiency and reductions in manufacturing costs.
Suzhou Manz New Energy Equipment was founded in order to boost the marketing of CIGS technology in China. The company has exclusive responsibility for the sales activities in China, and it provides engineering services for future projects as well as support in their early phases.
The Supervisory Board and Management Board of Manz AG extend their thanks to the previous Supervisory Board member, Mr. Guoxing Yang, and look forward to a successful cooperation with Dr. Zhiming Xu. Dr. Zhiming Xu will introduce himself personally to the shareholders of Manz AG during the 2018 Annual General Meeting in Filderstadt.
